Major: Episode 04

Whoa. The series is definitely laying down the groundwork before letting out the *real* baseball action. The author makes use of emotionally investment to have the audience empathize with the protagonists. Perhaps by now, the viewers have fallen for Honda, Hoshino, and little Goro. I know, I have.
The blooming romance between Hoshino and Honda is especially refreshing. While it adds more integrity to Hoshino’s growing affection for Goro, it also livens up the plot. Unfortunately, due to nature of the spoiler-y opening sequence, it seems that we should be expecting depressing events in the near future. Argh, I’m praying I’m incorrect in my assumptions.
I hope this anime would find a big following in the fansub community. Through a little googling I read that the manga has 50+ volumes so I’m assuming that it is quite popular in Japan to have such staying power. Considering the length of the manga, I wonder how long this anime adaptation is going to be.
I just looked up VA listings for Major. Honda’s VA is Takehito Koyasu who lent his voice to Kei (Juuni Kokki), Lion-san (Twin Spica), and currently, Kuroyan (Yakitate!! Japan). Goro’s VA is Motoko Kumai who played Shaoran (CCS). And Hoshino’s VA is Junko Noda who’s Tashigi in One Piece. Nice.
