Major: Episode 05

Damn, damn, damn!! Argh, I want episode 06 NOW!! I must HAVE the raw!! Pardon the excessive exclamation points and the upcoming incoherent babbling (more incoherent than usual), for this release left us with a freakin’ huge cliffhanger.

The romance between our cute couple is flourishing beautifully. Goro grants Honda his blessing to pursue Hoshino. And he does not waste time at all. The proposal is honest, simple, and sweet. My inner schoolgirl sighs, giggles, and squeals for joy. It is utterly romantic.

While this audience member is grinning stupidly over the endearing little scene, the episode changes its pace and proceeds to the baseball action. A cocky, arrogant but talented pitcher from USA’s Major League baseball arrives in Japan. He underestimates the locals but Honda beats him in his own game by hitting a home-run. Happy ending, right? Oh no, because the mangaka decides to mess with our heads.

The first half of the episode lulls the viewers into a false sense of security. The latter part brings out some baseball action. Then, B-O-O-M! I saw it coming but still…

I really encourage regular and first-time visitors to marathon the first five eps of Major. It’s a sports anime with cliches and all, yet it has a unique flavor. So far, it focuses on loads of character developments. Yes, I’m trying to pimp this title to anyone who’ll listen. *lol*
