Fantastic Children: Episode 16

I urge readers to watch the episode first before reading any further. And if you haven’t seen any eps of Fantastic Children, I urge you to drop by Mahou’s chan or site and grab a copy of their releases.

Lovely, utterly lovely, is all I can say. Fantastic Children manages to raise the bar higher once again. And to sweeten the deal, a seemingly picturesque tale of young lovers emerges. Who would’ve thought that a love story will be a central figure in this title? Such a pleasant and poignant surprise to this audience member.

Tina is a pretty and vivacious child. During one of her adventures, she finds herself lost in the woodlands. Amidst the thick fog, a stranger appears, a lad with a body half made of steel. Truly, a possible scary sight for a child. But the young imp instinctively recognize the gentleness in the boy’s eyes and readily accepts his help. As soon as they reach the palace grounds, the boy mysteriously vanishes as quickly as he appeared.

Years pass. The child has grown into a beautiful and spirited lass of fifteen, a few weeks shy of her sixteenth birthday. That is the time when she met him once again. Out of sight for a long time yet never forgotten. To fall in-love is inevitable… Unfortunately, tragedy will soon follow.

Christina, Serafine, and Helga’s quiet anguish runs deeper than the simple desire to return home. Aanon’s innocent question to Christina of a lost lover perfectly hits the mark. *sigh*

Whew. I simply adore this FC. Easily the one of the best programs I’ve seen in TV-land. Creative, refreshing, beautifully acted, well-scripted, and touching, FC grabs your attention and never lets it go. And this episode sure held mine for a long time. BTW, adding the Russian version of the ED was also the perfect touch.

The agony of the wait for the next chapter. Oh, the cruelty. (I apologize for the melodrama. It seems fitting right now… ;p)

I would’ve babbled more about the Rontgen-Gherta connection, the king and his brother, and more but this entry has become too long. Oh, and is Thoma the reincarnated Seth or is it Solan?
