Samurai Champloo: Episode 18

I’m torn between amusement and annoyance for this episode. On one hand, the storylines for both plot A and B are rather uncommon and rather hilarious. But my inner OCD-ness attempts to burst through after seeing all those graffiti. I know, this is only an anime but seeing those vandalized walls just makes me want to start cleaning. Really.

While Samurai Champloo is visually stimulating and quite frankly, refreshingly absurd, it still suffers from over-the-top moments which sometimes distract viewers from its natural flow. I still can’t shake the feeling that it is trying a little bit too hard to be cool. Oh, well.
