Samurai Champloo: Episode 19

How fitting that I watch this episode on Good Friday (although technically, I’m blogging this on Black Saturday). The episode mildly touches on Christianity and even attempts to comment on the rampant exploitation of religion. But it’s clear that the main purpose of this storyline is to provide a link for the sunflower-dude.

In this crazy journey, the trio is actually making progress along their way. At last, they have a very strong lead where to locate Fuu’s father. His connection with Christianity should be an interesting twist for this continuing storyline. I’m really looking forward for the revelations to come.

On a sidenote, I really hope this would not end ala Cowboy Bebop because I don’t think I can endure a death in this group. Oh, and for readers who have seen the ending, please don’t post any spoilers for the upcoming episodes. I still believe in the power of surprises (for this series, anyway).
