Loveless 01

All I can say is, “Wow!” for a myriad of reasons. From the gorgeous production treatment, the dream-like quality, the striking (and very surprising) battle sequence, the enchanting ED theme, and right down to the WTF-ness of the neko-ears. I’m astounded.

A angsty young lad transfer to a school. At the end of his first day of classes, he meets a mysterious man who takes him for a stroll. After a surprising kiss, a suspicious pair attacks and a fight ensues. Very strange yet decidedly apt.

Loveless will definitely have even a casual observer pay attention. The shounen-ai quality might be a turn-off for some. Yet there seem to be a solid storyline ingrained in the series that will draw out a variety of audience members.

However, there might be a major flaw in this series: It seems to take itself too seriously. I mean, cat ears protrude from children’s heads, for crying out loud. The next eleven episodes will prove or will disprove any doubts about the series. So for now, I’ll be waiting for the upcoming installment for Loveless.
