Major: Episode 12

One moment, I burst out laughing. Then, there’s a bit of adrenaline rush (it’s a sports anime, after all). A second later, I pull out the kleenex. I SO love this show.
Goro’s decision to travel to America is not an easy task, especially if the one who has invited him is the same person who accidentally killed his father. Three years has passed since Gibson and Goro had first met. Their next encounter, while different from the initial meeting, is still a very emotional experience for both of them.
Over the years, Gibson matures into an outstanding ballplayer who he pays his respect for Honda by giving his all to the game. During the All-Star game in the Major leagues, he honors Honda by striking out every single batter on the field. Goro learns of Gibson’s intentions and finally accepts his father’s opponent’s tragic mistake.
*sniff, sniff*
Another emotionally charged episode for Major. And yes, this is *still* a sports anime. Tee-hee. Compared to last episode’s slight emotional manipulation, the Gibson-Goro confrontation has much more substantial weight to it. The deceivingly simplistic scene is backed with ample history. And the stirring payoff is decidedly earned.
