Sousei no Aquarion: Episode 01

ZOMG!! Not just one, but two threesomes in the initial episode of Sousei no Aquarion. Unsettling yet too hilarious at the same time. My mind almost went kaput when I heard moans coming from Reika, Glen, and blond-dude (forgot his name). I basically sported a slacked jaw onwards. Whew, I can’t believe I procrastinated with this title.

To those still unfamiliar with the series, I’m actually talking about a mecha series (not some kind of hentai). I suppose, the title has given it away, though. It has almost all the cliches imaginable complete with the religious overtones yet it somehow musters a VERY enjoyable and entertaining ride. It lacks the uber-seriousness usually seen in this genre. And I think, it relishes in the absurd. Darnit, I’m hooked.

Aside from the amusing atmosphere, Sousei no Aquarion boasts of excellent animation and suitable music. The pace consistently remain on overdrive but not in tiresome manner. Assessing the likeability of the main cast can be tricky, so I’ll withhold my judgment. For now, I’m sold to this surprisingly hilarious mecha series. I remain optimistic for the delectable cheesiness to come.
