Sousei no Aquarion: Episode 02

Mahou’s choices in titles definitely rock.
Holy crap, I am (un)officially an Aquarion-fangirl. Scratch that. Make that an Apollonius-fangirl. Long red hair, piercing eyes, overall bishie-ness, a Greek god personified. *drool* So manly. Oh, wait. Toma professed that Apollonius is the only *man* he ever loved. Eh, does that mean… Hmmm. Apollonius is aptly named after all. If my memory serves me right, the Sun-god Apollo is known for his love for both men and women (and they always end tragically). I suppose the more choices, the better. XD
As mentioned by Kabitzin, the series has a few unintentional comedic moments in addition to the extremely wacky scenes. I’m pretty sure the director did not expect laughter as an immediate response to Apollonius’ reaction to Toma’s confession. Seriously, I burst out laughing during that scene. It even took a few minutes before I calmed down. Then again, this could be intentional as well. What do I know after all?
This title is laden with pure WTF-ness: Soccer-dude’s flame-kick versus blond bishie’s blowing kiss, the mecha three-some, a (literally) four-eyed winged creature, the blood-sucking loli, etc. But will this deter me from wasting spending time and effort to watch the show? NO, of course not. And even with all the screwy elements (in a good way) are present, the series does not lack the usual angst-y plot. Sylvia’s brother fixation and the Seria-Toma-Apollonius triangle might play a great role in this warped mecha series.
I simply love this show’s kookiness. This spring anime selection is amazing.
