Tenshi na Konamaiki: Finale

Now, wasn’t that a somewhat unsatisfying ending? But honestly, my disappointment stems from the manga deviation. I expected an explanation of the Megu-curse and how the clown manipulated Miki and Megu to his liking. A simple flashback would’ve sufficed but still… Since I have no clue whether the TV adaptation or the comic ended first, I’ll say no more on the subject. T_T

Despite the irksome non-ending, the anime simply stands as one of the funniest titles, ever. I have been initially reluctant to sit through the first few episodes because of the unusual character designs and the weird curse storyline. But quickly, my defenses are breached when I realized the non-stop laughter induced by Megu-tachi’s antics.

While there is a presence of a main plot thread, the series does not rely on this since its strongest asset is humor. Either arcs or stand-alone episodes, laugh-out-loud moments are not uncommon. The group dynamics between Megu and her friends has substantially helped in churning out punchlines one after the other. But for the most part, the Megu-Genzo scenes simply outshines other interactions *cough*biased*cough*.

Overall, Tenshi na Konamaiki appears as one of the most hilarious series I have encountered. A big recommendation to any anime fan. Just take a look at the inventory of individuals. A feisty gender-bending lead character, a seemingly fragile but mischievous loyal friend, an idiotic but adorable reformed-delinquent, a not-so-average average joe, a comic-aspirant samurai, and the brilliantly perverted four-eyes. Aren’t they a lovely set of friends? And if one adds the creepy father, the school rival, and the uber-villain, what more can I ask for?

The manga has already hit the shelves of U.S. bookstores but the anime has yet to be licensed. With the licensing frenzy these days, maybe some company will eventually acquire the rights to release TnK in its full R1 glory. But if it is left untouched, I suppose I have to endure those R2s. *sigh* Those imports are darn too expensive.
