Tsubasa Chronicles: Episode 01

I can’t believe I am actually impressed with the first episode. I enjoy CLAMP’s works but I don’t think Tsubasa is their strongest title (I’m still irked with the non-release of X). Nevertheless, the first episode of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles simply provides lush textures and breathtaking scenery. And that haunting music… Wow.
I have absolutely nothing new to offer in the discussion on Tsubasa so I won’t be writing extensive entries on the subject. Thus far, I’m in the middle of a wait-and-see mode. As I mentioned above, as much as I adore CLAMP, Tsubasa has been always an after-thought. Still, as Garten noted, the pilot opens with strong foundation disregarding unnecessary scenes to present a solidified narrative. Also, I have to agree with BluWacky’s stand on the Sakura’s seiyuu performance. Seriously, we don’t need another tiny, cutesy voiced anime character.
BTW, I went a bit crazy with the screencaps.
