One Piece: Episode 146

Luffy, Zoro, and Nami navigate their way through Jaya in hopes of collecting information on the mythical Sky Island. The lively town is deluged with hundreds of pirates where chaos and disarray is an everyday routine. Because of Luffy and Zoro’s penchant for trouble, Nami asks the pair to promise not to engage in any jeopardous situations. Luffy and Zoro reluctantly agree. Alas, the trio runs into a formidable villain, Bellamy the Hyena, who hurls insults and spouts incredulous claims. Luffy initially prepares for a fight. But hearing Bellamy’s mocking words strengthen his resolve to fulfill his promise to Nami.
Luffy’s reaction to Bellamy’s taunts are instinctive rather than thought-out. It seems that he need not taint himself with his opponent’s filth to affirm the validity of his dream. In this particular confrontation, he fights with his will and resolve, a determination which Zoro easily grasps. The outcome of this match is set but the interpretation of who won is arguable.
Serious!Luffy rocks. I can’t wait till he kicks Bellamy’s butt later down the Jaya arc. I can’t wait till he pulverizes his face until he cries uncle. Darn that Bellamy. He is surely a villain we can all love to hate.
