Trinity Blood: Episode 01

I have long concluded that gray-colored, long-haired bishies are either cast as horny comic relief characters or as angsty (yet still pervy) semi-villain. I guess not. Unless Abel Nightroad, Trinity Blood’s protagonist, shows signs of perviness later on the series, the theory has been proven wrong. >___ <

With the vampire-centric theme, wicked cool weaponries, and even substantial role of the Catholic Church, the series itself is evocative of certain past titles. BluWacky and Ender mention comparisons to Hellsing, Blade, and Trigun. The whole vampire as a church-vanguard somewhat reminds me of Chrno’s affiliation to the church. Even Abel’s initial dorky persona has a certain likeness with Rain (Meteor Methuselah aka Immortal Rain). Off-topic. Hmmmm. I’d really like to see Remington (Chrno Crusade) playing as Trinity Blood’s title role. *grins*

I tend to favor the romanticism of the Anne Rice and Buffyverse vampires versus the Blade-prototype with all its scientific advances. However, I am easily dazzled by shiny objects. One look at Abel’s technology-enhanced sickle-like thingy (death gods can only drool with envy), I am ready to crossover the dark side.

As if the Vash-personality and the sickle-thingy aren’t enough, I learn that it is Touchi Hiroki who plays Abel. I wonder if we will hear traces of Ken Matsushiro in this role. One can always hope, right?

BTW, thanks to mango for reminding me about this series. I really enjoyed the first ep and I am rather looking forward to next one.
