Bleach: Episode 41

Spoiler alert, just so you know…
Beginning an entry with a whiny tone might not be the best way the to start a post. But it is too exasperating to see great plot points embedded beneath inconsistent animation quality. At least three major developments, two very disturbing displays of strength, plus a couple of foreshadowing elements occur in the episode yet the sloppy animation in various scenes detract the viewers from more significant matters. Whomever is in-charge of the character sheet for the episode failed to capture the original character designs, particularly Ichigo’s. His face morphed into quite a good number of ways in this episode. It is a shame to disappoint audiences over technical matters. /end rant
I suppose I should show more concern in Ganjuu’s complete defeat and the mysterious hollow mask. But, no. I tend to zero in where I can find laughter. I can’t help myself. And this time I found them in two places: the revelation of Yuichiro’s original form and the Ichigo-Rukia reunion. Both events are treated with a balance of suspenseful build-up, touching moments, and irreverent humor.
The easy banter between Ichigo and Rukia reminds me why I enjoy the camaraderie of the duo. The only thing that would’ve made their meeting better is there was an insertion of any bunny references in their dialogue. Although even with any insertion of bunny illustrations, I have to say, the best scene of the episode includes a squirming Ichigo looking at a firm, nubile nekked body of an extremely H-A-W-T woman. It’s a bit endearing to know that despite Ichigo’s supposed coolness, he’s still very inexperienced when it comes to delicate matters. ;p
