Major: S1 Finale

It’s always a great thing to wake up and find out that Major’s first season finale is released. Me < 3 MJN/F-B. Anyhow, I’m usually idling at the MJN chan (as chihiro). Give me a holler if you’re around. ^^
BTW, fair warning, people. I’ll be mentioning a great deal of spoilerific information so please avert your eyes if you don’t want to know details of the finale. Oh, and if I incorrectly used a technical term please (politely) correct me.
While I was mistaken with my primary assumption on Yokohama’s fate, I was half correct in some of my speculations on Mifune’s. Kawase bravely faces Goro head on. Unfortunately, her efforts fail her. Goro hits the ball. It flies over the open field. He makes it to the second base but slides towards the third. As luck (or maybe skill?) would have it, the ball passes by the third baseman Majima. Now, Goro has a big chance for a homerun. Already exhausted, he pushes his body further. He falls halfway but he hears his teammates’ shouts of encouragement. He gets up and presses on. Still, his battered body is in no condition to continue. Yet just when he thinks he cannot find any strength to carry on, he remembers his father.
Majima finally gets ahold of the ball. He passes it to the catcher Toshi. He is a second too late. A completely drained Goro safely touches the base. Mifune wins against Yokohama. *sigh*
The fierce game against Yokohama forces Goro to rest his shoulder for a whole month. His team accepts this without question and places him in the outfield. Mifune lost the tournament but without regrets.
Meanwhile on the romantic front, Momoko and Shigeno finally reach an understanding. They wed before the summer ends. (Shigeno moves fast. ;p) Goro, Momoko, and Shigeno becomes a family.
It would’ve been great the season ends as it is. However, Shigeno is traded to another team, forcing Goro to transfer school and district. He refuses to say goodbye to his teammates but promises that he will return someday.
There you have it. The first season of Major closes. And we, Major fans, will have to wait til fall for our baseball fix and for the uber-hawtness that is HS!Goro. As for the final thoughts for Major, I’ll try to collect my thoughts and post them later.
update: Errr. Just noticed something amiss with the second season poster. I mean, why is Toshi posed that way? Ugh, I have a dirty mind. ^^;;
