One Piece: Episode 151

The poor man is not he who is without a cent, but he who is without a dream. -Harry Kemp

The pursuit of dreams cannot be confused with pure disatisfaction of the present. It is a colorful yet difficult path to traverse. It is a life filled with both laughter and tears. It is a life without any room for regrets. It is firmly believing that the seemingly intangible reality will soon be within reach. Romantics. Idealists. Dreamers. A world without them is a world full of misery and strife. I pity a man without a dream.

Once again, One Piece emphasizes the importance of dreams and ambition. A man who lacks such thoughts is nothing but a hollow shell. The over-confident Bellamy believes in nothing but his own self. This display of arrogance becomes his downfall. He lacks a vision to chase upon and ultimately limits himself to grow. One powerful punch is all it takes to bring down this misguided soul. His biggest mistake, in addition to severely injuring Cricket&co, is underestimating the enemy’s capabilities. He is trapped within his own vanity that he fails to realize the losing battle.

This encounter is without a doubt one of the best fights in the series. Simple yet totally exhilarating. It rivals even the exquisitely choreographed fight sequences because of the sheer intensity emanating from our favorite pirate. Imagine cheers from the audience members (including yours truly) during the key scene. Yes, I have found another reason to obsess over One Piece.
