One Piece: Episode 152

After launching a brilliant episode, the succeeding installment usually lags behind in comparison. In most cases, the follow-up episode fails to capture the spirit of its predecessor. But then, One Piece is not your average shounen show.
The battle with Bellamy is not forgotten yet it somehow becomes insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Always looking at the present, Luffy enthusiastically embarks in another adventure. This time to the sky island, via the knock-up stream using the souped-up Going Merry™. It’s a dangerously fun ride. It is just how our Straw Hat captain likes it, much to the dismay of his crew.
It has been ages since I have waited for our free-spirited pirates to make their grand entrance to the sky island. I might not agree with Luffy’s reckless decision, but I’ve got to admit this route has style. To top it off, the audiences are reminded of OP’s first opening theme. While it’s not a particular favorite mine, it melds well with the scene and gives off a very uplifting atmosphere.
The arc is off to a great start. However, it’ll take gazillions of episodes before we reach to the conclusion. Fortunately for us, Oda-sensei has a knack for creating enjoyable journeys filled with a careful balance of action and humor. I’m drooling with anticipation.
