Tide-Line Blue: Episode 01

ZOMGWTF!!!! I haven’t experienced the mind-blowing reaction garnered from watching a first episode for quite some time now. The first episode of Tide-Line Blue flows like a beautiful prologue for a potentially exceptional series. Damn, I’m in awe.

How fortunate for this audience member to welcome the new season with Tide-Line Blue. I was about to watch Kamichu when I accidentally picked this title from my anime playlist. And because of pure laziness, I decided against correcting myself and proceeded to preview the episode. The opening sequence gives no hint of the impressive nature of the pilot. My usual indifference settles in and I continue to watch without any form of expectation.

Tide-Line Blue opens in a very light atmosphere. Kiru(?) seems like the average playful and easy-going male protagonist. He can be devious to unwitting sailors and can be adorable to someone he cares about. And that someone is Izura(?). Izura acts like a typical charming and spunky lass, except for two minor details: her pregnancy and her pet ostrich. A bit odd in the world of contemporary anime, if I say so myself.

The cheerful atmosphere of their city vanishes in an instant. Several guided missiles are aimed at the island’s main HQ. The once peaceful place is filled with fire and smoke. Explosions can be heard everywhere. Amidst the chaos, a child is born. And this is where I fell in-love with the episode.

I’m very much excited with the release of this title. From gorgeous background and captivating music to the absorbing sequences and interesting characters, I can see this as a favorite of mine this season if it remains consistent with its presentation. Maybe I have found another title to obsess over. I keep my fingers crossed.

BTW, someone NEEDS to sub this title.
