Tide-Line Blue: Episode 02

A stoic Teen and an expressive Kiiru, separated by a mysterious past. Kiiru intends on believing Teen as a traitor. But his reaction from the first glimpse of his twin brother in seven years is a mixture of joy, pain, and relief. Anger seems to be only secondary. Is this an accurate observation? Or maybe my own imagination? The show of anger begs the question, why does he feel bitterness towards his brother? Is it because of his mother’s death? Or could it be something to do with their father? Sibling rivalry is too simplistic for a reason. At least, not for this title. Anyhow, branding his own sibling as a traitor will likely be a cause for concern from Teen’s allies. However, this juicy bit of information is an intriguing piece for this blogger.
To add amongst the list of my bazillion questions, I would like to know the deep connection of the twins to General Aoi. Better yet, to Blantyre. While I do not have any concrete evidence to support the emerging assumption, I theorize that this certain Blantyre is the same person manning the satellite station briefly shown in the episode. And more importantly, he could be the brothers’ father. Judging from the Kiiru’s memory of a woman in a spacesuit (presumably their mother) in the previous episode and the current installment’s flashback of chibi-Kiiru and chibi-Teen’s one-sided fight in a zero-gravity environment, one can surmise the possibility of their father stationed in a same type of workplace. However, the lack of paternal talk dissuades me from pursuing the thought further. Eh. Sometimes, I tend to over-speculate. ^^;;
BTW, does my ears deceive me? Am I hearing the use of Spanish guitar in the background music? No complaints from this corner, though. To me, it oddly fits with some of the scenes.
