Black Jack: Episode 02

Black Jack is a very unusual protagonist. He is brilliant surgeon but an unlicensed one. His skills are respected by colleagues yet he is deemed despicable because of his steep fee. Yet despite all this, he seems to possess a kind heart. While serious at times, he is capable of exhibiting humor and lightheartedness. And the fact that his constant companion is small lass with a very irksome voice is rather questionable as well. He is a true mystery.

Black Jack speaks of his memories to a lad who reminds him of his past. I wonder if he freely shares his history with others. It is rather doubtful, though. Perhaps, he experiences nostalgia and kinship with the kid who has the same determination he once had.

At a glance, the episode seems simplistic at best. But digging deeper reveals a layer of the doctor’s personality. I am intrigued.
