Black Jack: Episode 04

I am completely enamored with Black Jack’s opening theme. More accurately, the first few bars of the music. The use of the violin imbues a mystical-like quality to the sequence. Black Jack’s natural talents seem to border towards the unexplainable. Almost magical. So I would say the infusion of strings added a very nice touch, if I say so myself.

As for the episode, it runs too much like an “after school special”, complete with the moral of the day. Yet for some darn reason I can’t take my eyes off the screen. By the end of the last act, I find myself oddly satisfied. The novelty of the title might lend to this fascination, though. Plus, the esteemed doctor continues to surprise me with his contradictory gestures. He is a man hard to pin down.

If you are looking for my usual uber-fangirling, I regret to inform you that I am still a casual observer for this title. Black Jack intrigues me but it has yet to capture my heart. Maybe some serious angst will help. (And to reader who are familiar with the storyline, please do not spoil the succeeding plot points. Thanks. ^^)

BTW, watching this series requires viewers to ignore learned factual knowledge in the Sciences. It certainly prevents from nitpicking.
