Bleach: Episode 42

Byakuya and Yoruichi play a dangerous game of tag. This heart-pounding encounter ends abruptly with the agile Yoruichi escaping from the Captain. She intends not to fight but save the bandaged up Ichigo. But she promises the oh-so-aloof-one that the currently unconscious Ichigo will take him down in three days. Yay to power-ups. Ahem.

Meanwhile, Orihime sets a clever plan to infiltrate the Shinigami ranks. They have succeed eluding the average soldiers but the creepy Science captain is on to them. Expect a big face-off soon.

As always, Ishida and Orihime go through their laugh-out-loud comedy routine. At first, Ishida shows his little known cool-side (as opposed to his usual dorky mode). But of course, it does not last long. The two of them on screen is simply priceless. Next to them are Sentarou and Kiyone. A comedy duo I have failed to notice from the manga. What a great oversight from this supposed avid fan. These loyal followers spout the usual jokes but I still buy it. I must hand it to the director and the seiyuus for a job well done.

Random thought. It seems that Bleach characters never die. Yes, even with the severe injuries incurred from battles. We can forgive Ichigo when he was outclassed by Byakuya during pre-Soul Society arc since without him, Bleach is no more. But then again, his case is not rare. Take a look at his other opponents’ fate after an encounter with him. Bald-dude, evolving-eyebrows, and Ken-chan are prime examples. Then there’s the slashed up Ganjuu in the previous act. Some kind of nine lives, perhaps?
