Black Cat: Episode 01

The episode starts with very pwetty fireworks. Such a delight to have sequel to Gankutsu… How do you say it again? Huh, no? But there\’s fighting, shouting, and dramatic music. *sniff* Oh, it\’s Black Cat. *notices something* A light saber versus a gun. Erm, isn\’t this a bit unfair. Cue opening credits. The first act begins.

Whee. There\’s a cool action sequence complete with a psycho dude and an execution. Old man with Elven ears spouts some order of sorts to BC. Then the scene changes from serious to happy. Green-haired dude with eyepatch appears. A quick character introduction ensues. The episode ends with another execution, a chase scene, and a lovely singing from mystery girl. Such a beautiful note only to be ruined by the ending sequence. Cute ED, but entirely wrong to follow the closing scene.

The first episode packs a highly entertaining, even intriguing punch. I sorta, kinda remember the manga but it has been ages since I\’ve read a chapter. So the pilot jogged a bit of my fuzzy memory. *peeks into archive* I\’m glad it did not follow the series \’exactly\’. And although I can\’t wait for the eventual \”a few months/years later\”. Unless of course, the director will be giving the title a completely different turn.
