Hana Yori Dango J-drama: Episode 02

Dear reader, if you expect a sane commentary from any HanaDan entry, I regret to inform you that it will never be so. First of all, this is about Hana Yori Dango, a series which I will forever fawn over. Second, this a J-drama. And J-dramas and I have a long standing love-hate relationship. Then, there’s the fact that MatsuJun is involved in this programme. So this means, my fangirl-mode is switched on at all times. Logic and coherence are not included in this mode’s vocabulary.

Despite my resistance for Shun, his scene with Makino in front of those gigantic posters of Parisian gal Shizuka admittedly weakens the knees. Helping the damsel-in-distress whilst maintaining his I’m-so-hawt-and-cool-but-oh-so-mysterious demeanor immensely damages the Vic Zhou shrine. Then, insert Ai Otsuka’s Planetarium as the helping-Makino theme. Ack, jelly knees. Must. Retain. Composure. No, it’s not happening. *sigh* If not for the unforgettable Rui-introduction in episode one — which I still cringe at the thought –, the hallowed altar might have crumbled unexpectedly. Now, here’s a thought. Why is he much more appealing in Densha Otoko?

Not to be outdone, Mr. Pouty Lips with his semi-permanent bad hair day preens, pouts, and poses like a pro. Those luscious lips should be illegal. And I should not be obsessing over a dude two years younger than I am. When he punches Rui in because of jealousy, I believe it is not over Tsukushi’s I-love-this-second-makeover-than-the-crappy-first-one. The words “Are you trying to out-cute me?” reverberate in my brain as MatsuJun lands one on Shun. Hee.

Aside from the F4 highlights, the annoying trio amuses me so. They are such a great source of mockery entertainment. I can spend hours poking fun analyzing their merits. Calling Tsukushi as Tsuki… *snickers* Then, the likeable Parisian gal sprays them with champagne makes everything warm and cozy. My only gripe is wasting good champagne for the low life. Why not use a water hose instead? Funnier and much more cost-effective.

Ahh. Much lurv for this show.

BTW, if you like Planetarium, here’s the track.
