Black Cat: Episode 04

Black Cat integrates artsy designs with the normal illustrations. It somehow meshes well with the program itself, though. Each frame seems deliberate and so far has never delved into the filler-like quality. But there is one particular scene which I find a bit lacking. While the loli-bait slowly releases pedo-hunter!Sven, it pans out nicely only to halt in an awkward frame. I believe it would\’ve been better if it had continued in one shot with the camera closing in on Fat Bastard. Or maybe not. What do I know about camera shots anyway? ^^;;

How odd. I once again read my archived Black Cat manga files recently. Surprisingly, I still stand by my verdict with my impression on BC\’s beginning episodes. Instead of showing the usual route by first introducing the lighter side of Train and then slowly hints the darker past through flashbacks, the series presents the man that he once was. Now, after his encounter with pedo-hunter and loli-bait, he seems rather relieved not to have assassinated the child. And again, his brief scene with mystery sweeper girl is the sweetest moment of the program. Plus is brings out a real smile from his face.

Random thought. Whenever I encounter Black Cat, in manga or anime form, I tend to think of Get Backers without the obvious homoerotic overtones. Of course, if you are a TrainxSven uber-fangirl who interprets innocent looks as wanting to jump each others bones, you\’ll find more similarities…
