Glass Mask: Episode 32

The episode is divided into four significant parts. The first half features Tsukikage’s dramatic announcement, Maya’s graduation, and Ayumi’s flashback. The latter half centers on a Tsukikage-theater play in collaboration with another troupe (forgot they’re name).
Tsukikage-sensei informs Maya of a very difficult condition to which she must accomplish in order to be allowed back as a candidate for the Kurenai Tennyou role. She must win a prestigious award within two years. The task seems improbable if not impossible for Maya but Ayumi does not allow her to give up and challenges Maya further.
We have more insight on how Ayumi thinks of her rivalry with Maya. Although she is acknowledged as a genius by the acting world, she does not believe it true herself. As chibi!Ayumi she endured countless badmouthing simply because of her famous parents. To silence these hurtful whispers, she demanded perfection to herself. So her fame started to rise, then she meets Maya. To her, Maya’s talent is pure genius. This both challenges and angers her yet at the same time, she retains affection as shown in the previous episodes with Back-Stabby. The episode shows a very interesting perspective on Ayumi.
Meanwhile, the Tsukikage-group decides on Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream as their next project, where Maya is given the role of a mischievous fairy called Puck. Since we are given a glimpse on how Maya will play the role, I am honestly hoping that the next episode will show chunk of scenes from the play itself. For some reason, I keep thinking of Julie Andrews’ Peter Pan as I look at Maya’s Puck. Go figure.
No Maya-Masumi highlights to report, you say. But never fear, the episode allots a small portion for this precious couple. Maya asks Hijiri to give her graduation token to the Purple-rose dude. Little as it is, it is a significant gesture from Maya. *sigh* Masumi can only look from afar… Awww.
