Hana Yori Dango J-drama: Episode 08

Pardon the late entry, gentle readers. While I admit watching the penultimate episode almost a week ago, the non-posting is derived from the age-old tradition known as procrastination. Being a great follower of the teaching, this blogger finds it eminent to exercise this conviction.

Mommy Dearest’s claws digs into the Makino household. With her mission in life to spread evil, she tasks her henchmen to transform Tsukushi’s not-so-safe haven into a hellish existence. Ahhh… But her android-esque calculations are put into question when her semi-reformed son, along with his comrades-at-arms, assists the commoner in question. The F4 flexes their aristocratic muscles while imploring audiences alike to accommodate, nay, stretch to the breaking point the suspension of disbelief. Heck, just throw me a bone and I’ll wag my tail. ;p

Tsukushi “the Underdog” Makino takes a crash course on F4 Charm School. The second half of the episode exhibits a montage designed to emphasize the struggling heroine’s failings. Yes, because we, the audiences, must be once again told of the difference of a rich dude and a commoner. *shakes head* At least, we get a lovely, sigh-inducing fangirl moment between her and Tsukasa. This blogger even had suspiciously misty eyes at the end of their scene. Hah. It sure beats the one wherein Tsukasa attempts to say Ay rabu yu to his dear Tsukushi. I almost died earlier; and it’s not because of the usual swooning fangirl syndrome. In that case, it’s the excessive laughter.

As much as this fangirl is overly smitten with the programme, one cannot turn blind eye with the major wtf-ness in this episode: Mommy Dearest being the first T.O.J. prizewinner. *shudder* Which scheme did she concoct to earn the grand prize? Or was the competition originally a gathering of demons and wicked entities in search of a leader? Actually the most disturbing this about this tidbit is that audiences are forced to realize Mommy Dearest was once a kid too. And here I thought spawns of Satan emerge fully grown…
