Major: Episode 27

After a looooooong wait, the second season of Major arrives to sate the almost unquenchable thirst. And how did it perform under pressure? Hah. I am delighted to report that it delivered beautifully and splendidly and… Erm, okay, maybe not brilliantly as I wanted. Nonetheless, the season opener provides a pleasant re-introduction of characters as well as hints of a new direction.
So how’s everyone after four years?
Poor oppressed Komori. Who would’ve thought that our sweet Komori is the baseball club’s captain? Unfortunately, his team is overrun by ruffians who loves bullying him and who seems to follow some dude who sports a very, very sad hair cut. They will definitely supply entertainment down the road.
Soccer-dude Sawamura. He reverts back to his first love and leads the soccer club. Basing on the respect given to him by his juniors, he kicks butt on the field. His hairstyle? Erm, not so much.
Lovely Shimizu. They do grow up so nicely, don’t they? Shimizu once again proves why I adore the gal. Not only does she leads the girl’s softball team but she packs a mean punch too. I have so much lurv for Shimizu. As for the new gal in town? I have feeling, I will not. Can you see the useless manager sign painted on her forehead? Hopefully, I am reading it incorrectly.
Almost-bishified Goro. Ahhh… The prodigal dude comes back to Mifune and finds himself once again helping Komori out, just like the old times. However, his arrival does not necessarily mean a new beginning for the school’s baseball club. Due to the Mifune-Yokohama game four years ago, he sustained an injury which caused him his pitching arm. He seems to be going for soccer now. Huh? What the… Don’t look at me.
For now, we are re-introduced to the four core characters of the old gang, plus a few glimpses of Momoko, Shigeno, and the little brother. As for the other minor characters, I am assuming they will make an appearance later. I’m really looking forward to the green-eyed hottie Toshi.
Nice touch to include Honda’s framed picture in the opening sequence. Oh, and where’s the American dude?
