Black Jack: Episode 05

I can’t believe I actually forgot Black Jack is amongst my long anime watch list. With the winter break over the holidays, I’m surprised that I managed to clean up a bit of my backlog clutter.

While slightly moralistic, I truly enjoyed this episode which comments on hospital politics. The metaphors on bright stars seems a little bit preachy but it sells the moment. In not-so-unexpected finish, another surgeon saves the day instead of the renowned Black Jack. But of course, this is all due to a slight manipulating.

Pinoco needs to stop inhaling helium. Some may find her cute, but I say, it’s annoying. If I see her face to face and she starts to open her mouth, I will gag her and not bat an eyelash. How can the famed doctor stand that kind of torture every single day? It’s probably a secret training….
