Glass Mask: Episode 39

OMG!! The planetarium scene. Is it wrong of me to expect Ai Otsuka serenade the audience with the HanaDan theme ‘Planetarium’ as Maya and Masumi walk beneath the pseudo-star-studded sky? *sigh* Can someone take out the smelling salts and revive this fangirl? The tension rises between destined soulmates (cheesy line but damn, I wish it were true). Masumi refrains from being a smarmy adult and slowly shows his lurv for the confused heroine. But of course, the not-so-young Maya begins to hear the doki-doki thump. Ack. After a couple of blah episodes, audiences experience the romance that is Maya and Masumi. A semi-date, a blushing heroine, lingering gazes, and amiable banter, am I in cloud nine or what?
Oh, wait. I cannot celebrate yet. Tsukikage-sensei’s sudden disappearance gives Maya excuse to deny her growing affections to the supposed villain. Is this a case of one step forward, two steps back?
A new play makes way into the hands of Maya, Ookami Shoujo (Wolf Girl). Think Tarzan but a girl raised by wolves or something to that effect. The heroine is captured and is rehabilitated to civilization by a gentleman. And guess who is going to play the gentleman? Yup, Sakurakouji Yuu enters once again into the life of Maya. Not only that, he is currently in a relationship with a rather nice gal. Would anyone believe that Sakurakouji has forgotten his lurv for our Maya?
As if the Sakurakouji complication is not enough, Shiori-gal makes her appearance. Damn her. Masumi agrees to be betrothed and Maya’s heart breaks. I lurv the angst.
