One Piece: Episode 178

Should I say w00t-ness for Zoro’s 108 pound-whatchamacallit attack? Once he realizes his hide-and-seek strategy against Ohm is not working (I think that only works well for Ussop. ;p), he throws away his goggles, dons his trademark bandana, and faces the demented priest. A terse silence fills the air. Well, it would’ve been if not for the rampaging python. The requisite macho talk follows. A few moments later, Ohm and Zoro trade blows. Unfortunately, not all things are created equal in the attack department. Ohm drops dead and Zoro wins the round. Now, he is in the final four. In the cage match, that is.
After a bout of testosterone display, audiences are afforded heightened tension in the second act. Aisa’s attack on the ex-god and Luffy’s intervention following the comedic results of the giant serpent’s uncontrollable frenzy exemplify the smooth transtition of humor to drama in One Piece. Furthermore, Pagaya in the last scene, the small movement when he pushed his daughter to safety and the subtle change his ever-calm expression, yields a beautifully executed cliffhanger.
My gawd. Is it possible to lurv One Piece even more?
*gasp* Four consecutive One Piece entries in three days? I did say, I’d be on top of things. *cough*
