Brief Intermission
This is a non-anime related rant. You’ve been warned. Hee.
My lovely little sister once again invited me to join Friendster. Friends, old and new, bugged me about the site since, well, forever. Time constraints pushed the slightest curiosity to the backburner. But my sister’s latest invitation finally prompted this blogger to create an account and to explore the jungle called Friendster.
Gawd, help me.
I am first to admit my continued use of fragments, run-on sentences, and not-so-stellar composition. True, I am light years away from creating prose worthy of publishing. Still, I understand rudimentary grammar. I try to abide by the rules. Try is the keyword.
A brief investigation to the unknown world of Friendster proves to be a vexing task. Irksome ads. Inadequate templates. Disoderly categories. Yes, they are merely a shell. But goddamn, it is one annoying and irritating shell. And take a look at the popular sentence structures (of those I’ve visited, anyway) and bam! A splitting migraine creeps up on me.
Extreme abbreviations, lack of capitalizations, poor punctuations are only the tip of the iceberg. To make matters worse, my number one pet peeve incessantly appears. I must reiterate this little known fact: Typing Lyk Dis does not make you unique, dammit!
Granted, I have yet to delve into the bowels of this distant realm. Family and friends, whose brains I respect and admire, swear by this community. Surely, a vast majority must have proper or at least, readable language skills to sustain the interest, right? However, the disastrous welcome dissuades further involvement. Plus, I cannot bring myself to write those sappy testimonials requested by friends. Call me antisocial, but I simply cannot…
Will I occasionally sojourn to this unfamiliar ground? Possibly. But only to placate certain requests of loved ones. Even then, I might not muster an enthusiastic response. *sigh*
Treading over comfortable territory seems to be better amusement for me. So, pardon me, while I head over AB’s Antenna and Blogsuki.
