Gakuen Heaven: Episode 01

One man’s garbage is another woman’s treasure.

Bell Liberty Academy: an elite school overflowing with beautiful teenaged boys of curious appetites. Fugly beings (read: straight) are scarce in this fantastical land. Once spotted, they are sadly dismissed into oblivion.

In the middle of a term, a strapping young lad transfers to this prestigious establishment. The addition of fresh blood, a rarity in mid-season, causes slight furor. The commotion is heightened when the BL King takes considerable interest to the anomaly. Unfortunately, his welcoming method might result into a traumatizing blow.

Gakuen Heaven is place where pretty boys, boys’ lurv, and eye-candy collide. Sexual tension and innuendo run rampant. Subtleties, subtext, and undertones are often ignored. Its tagline: Double entendre for the filthy mind.

A discerning viewer (read: sane) scoffs at the notion of inadequate animation or lack of intelligible plot. But who in the right mind would want the atrocity of character arcs and story development for Gakuen Heaven? Blasphemy, I say. Please refrain from uttering words deemed sacrilege to the legions of stark raving mad fangirls, desperately craving the pureness of boy’s lurv. Those who oppose us must be punished. Off with their heads!!

Yes, I enjoyed the ridiculous display of curdled milk. Considering my fondness for the absurd, I give this my two thumbs up. It would have been “way up” if I had a couple more glasses of wine instead of two.

Oh, and my favorite character amongst the horde of gorgeousness: The deranged cat.
