Gakuen Heaven: Episode 02

An ardent embrace, a sensuous tasting, and soft kisses? Oh, my. Be still my fragile heart.

Gakuen Heaven lacks the structure of a decent series, from its directionless plot to its annoying color palette. The voice actors ably act out their roles. However, their performances are not enough to camouflage the one-dimensional characters they portray. The music is so-so at best and the animation is mediocre. The horrendous writing and directing should have left this audience member a headache. But heck, no. None at all.

In fact, the series provides a half-hour entertainment of giggling, snorting, and snickering. Why? Because Gakuen Heaven is unintentionally funny. The cheesy dialogue and random character introduction send peals of laughter. The strategic poses and homoerotic overtones earn a fit of chortling. The series is rife for mockery and fun. And I cannot resist.

Where does Gakuen Heaven intend to go? Obviously, it will explore the Keita-angst. But in what direction? I truly would like to know. Or is this nothing more than a BL-exercise? Then again, that ain’t bad either. ;p
