One Piece: Episode 183

Gawd, K-F is on a roll. I can barely catch up. And so goes the story of my One Piece life.

Enel might be one big S.O.B., but he sure is a brilliant S.O.B. To design a floating arc powered by electricity is no small feat. Yet to add death machine to its job description is the kicker.

The Deathpiea is capable of destroying an entire island and its people. Enel says those dark fumes escaping from the ship are supposed to be clouds. Thunderclouds? Puh-lease. Even where I stand, I can see it as smog. If the people are lucky to survive the island attack, the smog will finish them off. Hah. Didn’t I tell you lying psycho dude has actual smarts in his head? I still hate his guts but I can somewhat respect his brain. Hee.

Random thoughts.Enel is a metaphoric being designed to symbolize a Western colonial empire. While the Shandians are obviously referenced from the Native Americans, the annihilation of Skypiea brings up a few questions. The planned destruction of Skypiea island is reminiscent of the bombings in Nagasaki and Hiroshima during WWII. Is this a mere coincidence? Or is this a subtle touch on the tragedy?
