It ain’t Yentl

I’ve been doing my usual rounds with my favorite blogs and somehow stumbled into this purty blog. A quick scan around revealed a picture of Ella; It perked up my interest. Then, I read the post: Hana Zakari No Kimitachi E, affectionately called HanaKimi, will be adapted into a Taiwanese drama. .

My reaction? Well, in the words of Keanu Reeves, “Whoa!”

HanaKimi’s silly humor and gender bending romance is an easy and pleasurable read. While it strays away from my top manga list, I can heartily recommended this little fluff piece for those wanting a quick laugh, wrapped in a shoujo package.

Even with the non-complicated plot of HanaKimi, a passable portrayal of a girl-as-a-dude is not an easy feat. It needs a competent actor. Enter Ella Chen.

I loved Ella in the TW drama The Rose. She is no Barbra, but she’s a decent actor. I think. (She’s even a capable singer, except when she tries to hit the high notes. ^^;;) Complemented with a low voice, she might be able to pull it off. I can only cross my fingers.

Random thought. Is a mere coincidence that a Princess, Princess Live Action drama is coming up too?
