Wishes do come true

Sort of.

More than a year ago, I wrote a short wish list for manga-turned-anime adaptations. I can’t believe someone has heard my pleas.

Last fall, GONZO surprises this audience member of an adaptation of Black Cat. The story deviations in the anime earned ridicule from manga purists. However, my response was different. Instead of utter disappointment, I developed an obsession with the series.

News of a HanaKimi anime is currently out of grasp. However, official reports of a Taiwanese drama surfaced in recent weeks. It ain’t anime but a live action adaptation is a positive step towards the main goal.

First, a live action movie and then, an anime? Oh, boy. Death Note’s popularity is still skyrocketing. If Monster was treated with awesome animation, I have high hopes for Death Note’s chance to light up the small screen.

Surprise, surprise. Anime Notebook reports an intriguing confirmation from Del Rey’s Mitchell. Who would’ve thunk that Perfect Girl Revolution (Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge a.k.a. The Wallflower) is in production for an anime?

3.5 out of 10. Not bad, in a full year’s worth. I hope that others will follow suit.

Included in the remarkably shoujo list: Red River, Hot Gimmick, Milk Crown, Nodame Cantabile, Mars, and Parfait Tic. My prime choice amongst the titles is Nodame Cantabile.
