Skip Beat: Romance is not dead (yet)

I am a sap. I am a VERY big sap. It is embarrassing, really. But cloaked within the realm of the web, I figure, I am safe from the taunts of hardened cynics outside the virtual world. So let me ramble away.

Skip Beat is killing me, damnit. In a good way, of course. So how is Yoshiki Nakamura’s manga faring? Three words. Romance is on.

Tsuruga Ren can barely hide his affection for Kyoko any longer. Initially, only his manager can claim knowledge on this juicy tidbit. But back then, even Ren has not realized his, erm, feelings yet. Once Ren acknowledged this particular emotion (ch71), the strange-yet-extremely-perceptive LME prez learned this secret (ch77). After the stalker!Reino debacle (ch87-89), a jealous Shou senses Ren’s attachment to Kyouko (ch91). Then, Ogata witnessed the sigh-inducing scene between Ren and Kyouko (ch96). And in the latest chapter (ch97), Yashiro immediately spots the softness in Ren.

Oh, lordy. I can only imagine the one hundredth chapter. It could possibly make me swoon. And Kyouko might. It is a matter of time before she understands the inner workings of Ren’s heart. Her reaction will be priceless.

Much love to Nakamura-sensei.
