What’s in your closet?

Mine? Erm, it houses a not-so-secret passion.

A few days ago, I mentioned in the latest podcast that I was making some shelves as some kind of bookcase to hold my manga. It is done. Behold, the shoddy images of my closet space. It’s not much, but it’ll do for now.

Disclaimer: Before you ostracise the weird bookshelves, I admit these are made by yours truly. I did not want to spend too much money on the shelves, plus they can be too bulky for what I had in mind. I actually constructed these out of boards and linens with a mind for future provisions.

To have some semblance of organization, the translated (right) and the untranslated (left) volumes are split. The top shelf to the left is lined with art boxes and my favorite figs. And yes, the figs are very recognizable characters from One Piece and Bleach. (The rest of my figs placed in a bin until further notice.)

As I mentioned, the translated and untranslated ones are divided into two sections, right and left, respectively. Those translated in English are alphabetically arranged. As for the Japanese ones, they are sectioned in sizes and in their ongoing status. You might notice that a huge portion of the collection are in the shoujo/josei genre. There are few shounen series thrown in the mix. And it’s probably hard to believe, but I only have two books considered yaoi. I don’t even own Gravitation. Hm. How disgraceful.

I am confident that I would not develop any plushy addiction. So the plushies are packed in a small bin because I do not foresee a sudden growth. Since I want my room to free of blatant geekiness, the singing stuff also occupies this space. If you look at the cork board on top of one of the shelves, you’ll notice a bunch of pinned paper. Guess what are those? One hint. It is directly connected to my singing binges. XD

As promised, these are the images of my little manga nook. I can’t say that I’ve read everything in this mini-library, though. The translated ones? Yes. The Japanese ones? Well, let’s put it this way, furigana is love.

I also mentioned in the said podcast that I was going to incorporate the DVDs too. But as I was trying to organize the chaos, the anime DVDs look comfortably seated along side my regular ones.

P.S. In case you’re wondering about right shelf near the door, it is a bookshelf for other books, chick lit, action lit, genre fiction, and whatever.
